We hope the leaders are found soon so they can start implementing measures to help the communities where they live in Haiti, the communities, and the countries where they live in the diaspora. (8). Take your time, take your pulse to observe everyone, everyone's character, and the way everyone works. Their seriousness, the seriousness they put into what they are doing (whether it is personal matters they are promoting or to help everyone, to help an entire community, an entire commune and country).   (8). But, when you keep working and waiting for that, it can make you develop a certain pride to the point of saying you have done enough work already and you want to stop there while you are still alive and healthy. It doesn't matter if some people, groups of people, or some organizations want to acknowledge your work, want to recognize your leadership, and now they are honoring you. (12). Your “Yes” should be “yes” and your “No” should be “no” so that people can believe in you. Don't make promises you can't keep. Respect time. When they give you a time (for example, for work, to start work, an appointment you have with someone). Respect time, respect deadline to do a work with other people (what you have to do, playing your part) to be done with some projects working with a group of people.

Everyone needs money in one way or another to help them in what they are doing, but also known as a leader that ideas come before money. Yes, you can write everything you want to do. You don't need a pen for that, you can even write books, publish them, share your ideas with others. They won't steal them from you because you will be happy when they publish a book, an article and people quote you as reference. That is, you create something they can benefit from. (14). Try to do as much as possible in a short time to show your speed and efficiency in everything you do. We observe that there is a problem with our work experience. You put sixty (60) people in a forum and even five (5) can't manage it (through constructive dialogs). We see this in many things happening in Haiti for example. Is it orientation that people lack at different level? What can be done to solve the problem? Is it a problem in Haitian Culture?   (14). If you go to a government institution, for instance, to get help with something. There are ten (10) people working in the office. You come with a document to be typed, each person in the office is asking the other to do it. So, there are too many people at the place. If you have reduced the number of people (for example, instead of thirteen [13] you reduce it to three), certainly the work would be done faster. – Now, you must do some brainstorming by asking this question: why so many people, and some of them are not even qualified for the job they hired them? Hmm! Great question! Well, there is Haitian proverb that goes: “There are more mountains behind the mountain.”  The question is: How did all these people end up working there in the first place? So, try to do as much as possible in a short time with your speed. You don't need a lot of people to do something great. (15). Travel as much as you can to look, to be inspired, to observe, and then copy what is good because there are people who copy what is bad. We need to copy what is good. We will reproduce what we copy to help our community, commune, our country (Haiti) or the country in which we are living for example. We should contribute to it also.   (15). There are a lot of people who come to the United States. They become very successful people but they were not born in the country. They contributed to its development. So no matter in what country you live, you should also contribute  to that country (in one way or another).   Gen yon dal moun ki vin Etazini ki vin gwo sesi-sela (sesi, sela) men yo pa t fèt nan peyi a. Yo kontribye nan devlopman l. Donk, nan kèlkeswa peyi w ap viv, ou dwe kontribye nan peyi sa a tou (yon fason yon lòt).
If you are in Haiti, you must also contribute to its development. Every Haitian has something positive they can do to help Haiti. The ball is in their corner to decide what type of Haiti they want. They are the ones who don’t want to try though we know the situation of the country. There is really no solidarity among most of them, and patriotic consciousness. They think foreigners who are supposed to come and do everything for Haiti whereas Haiti’s real development depend on Haitians (those in Haiti and those in diaspora). Do we use the ability and intelligence God has given us? At least I have been using mine to write, do research (focusing on: EducationHaitian Bilingual ProgramsCreole StudiesHaiti and the Haitian Diaspora) … the past thirty three (33) years. So, each of us can do something positive or bring our contribution to Haiti’s development (according to our field, career /profession, finance).   Si w Ayiti, ou dwe kontribye tou nan devlopman l. Don’t operate like an opportunist who only takes and will contact someone only when needed. There are many people like that; you never hear from them the entire year. All of a sudden their car breaks down on the highway. They know you are a serious person, and they call you early in the morning because they know you won't say no. But you shouldn’t treat people like that. When you do, you show clearly that you are an opportunist.   Pa fonksyone kòm opòtinis k ap annik pran, ki pral kontakte moun an ka bezwen sèlman. The year is coming to an end, but have you tried calling them on the phone, leaving them a voicemail, saying a little happy birthday...? Have you made a gesture anyway as the year ends to wish them well, making some good wishes for the new year? No, you're waiting when you have a problem and then to contact them. (17). Show positive and effective leadership. They talk about leaders in Haiti. In the country’s current state, most leaders have a very negative picture in terms of what they are doing or have done.   (17) Montre lidèchip pozitif e efikas. Yo pale apwopo lidè an Ayiti. They do not see the country to do positive things for its development. We know this; Haitians already know it. The Haitian people know all the negative leaders. They are not there to help with Haiti’s development. They are there to block all the good things that are happening for country's development.   Yo pa wè peyi pou fè bagay pozitif pou devlopman l. (18). Look at the communes, communities, in the country where you live to see what’s needed to be done. You who are in Haiti for example, you who are in other countries… look at what should be done, what was never done, and start doing it with your own means, intelligence, and money without talking too much, and without wasting time criticizing.   (18). Haitians are good at criticizing. They spend their time doing that, but if you were to ask them: brother, sister, what have you already done in the community you are in, or come from? There is a road here, twelve of us could try to fill it. Yes, using some tools like pickaxes, hoes, and other tools to fill that hole (fill it with stones). Let's take some students to help us. We will feed them.   Ayisyen bon nan kritike. Yo pase tan ap fè sa, men si w ta mande yo: frè, sè m kisa w fè nan komin kote w ye a oubyen komin ou soti a? Gen yon wout la a, douz nan nou te ka eseye konble l. Wi, yo ka itilize kèk zouti kouwè: pikwa, hou, e lòt zouti pou bouche twou sa a (konble l ak wòch). An n pran elèv pou ede nou. N ap ba yo lamanjay.
We would like to expand this road with the tools we have since we don't have a tractor. But… they talk, talk, the mayor turns his back in all directions driving his 4X4 truck. This small road doesn't interest him. Are you waiting for the mayor forever to come and do it? So, you yourself, you start doing it without talking, without criticizing, you do a little collective work with four or five guys. We will fill it up with rocks, plant trees in it on the cliff just in case a car loses control so it doesn't roll all the way down. That can prevent people from dying. The trees will hold it. They already see in you a dynamic leader, a leader with effective leadership, so they will support you.   (19). They will even encourage you to go to elections (though they never knew your intentions, whether you had political intentions or not) This is how you do politics: you go to work in the community, your area, you help the youth, you help everyone in the first place).   Y ap menm ankouraje w al nan eleksyon (san ke yo menm yo pa t janm konn entansyon w, si w te gen entansyon politik ou pa). You try to do what didn’t exist (what wasn’t there). People are taking note of all the work you are doing. They are not stupid. They will say to you: 'Well, why don’t you run in the elections for mayor, or for the local representative?'. So, everyone is watching us as leaders. They evaluate the candidates when they are voting (in terms of why they decide to vote so and so to represent them).   Ou eseye fè sa ki pa t egziste (sa ki pa t la). They will suggest this to you (to run) after seeing in you an effective leadership, a dynamic leader. You laugh at the comments and say: well, let me do what I’m doing, but you know you’re going into politics. We are tired of dirty politics which only contribute to Haiti’s underdevelopment and destruction. We need clean politics to put the country on development’ rails to accomplish beautiful things to inspire new leaders and candidates for different post. -- It is a wonderful thing when people are talking about the positive work of a leader. (20). Publishing books – Many leaders who are running for a political post in Haiti have not published any books or articles. That doesn’t happen in some major countries. For a candidate in the United States, for example, one of the things they do is publish at least a book documenting their prior works as candidate. Now people are going to look at this book; they are going to look at what they have done already in the society. Why can't a mayor, a representative can’t  publish a book? It doesn't have to be a big book, but it is an important document that records what the candidate has done already.   Kounyeya moun pral gade liv sa a, yo pral gade sa yo fè deja nan sosyete a. Imagine a presidential candidate has nothing published to document his / her work in society? Serious stuff! And blind people (those who know him / her for real) will vote for this candidate because s/he is going to give out some little bags of rice, some cod fish tails… or just vote because of fanatism… They rush to vote that candidate even though he has nothing written to review his leadership and see his track record, look at what s/he has already accomplished?   Imajine yon kandida alaprezidans pa janm pibliye anyen pou dokimante sa l fè nan sosyete a. So, when you are a leader, no matter what you are leading, you are supposed to put something out there (whether you are an architect, teacher, artist [any kind], lawyer, director [any type], engineer, journalist, candidate, community leader, doctor, priest, minister, technician... you are a leader. People see you as a role model).
