Dürresaison in Haiti

Nou vini ak yon sijè ki trè enpòtan, e nou pèdi tan pou fè ti rechèch sou entènèt la pou wè ki valè dlo, rivyè ki egziste an Ayiti. Nou bay tout yon lis nan atik sa a. Li trè enpòtan nan kad seyans fòmasyon n ap fè nan diferan domèn, espesyalman nan domèn agrikilti.   We have come up with a very important topics, and we have spent a bit of time researching online to see how many rivers that exist in Haiti. We provide an entire list in this article. It is very important within the framework of training sessions we are doing in different areas, especially in the area of agriculture.
Nou pa kapab pale de agrikilti epi pou n ta kite irigasyon dèyè tandike lè nou gade Ayiti, nou wè se yon peyi ki chaje avèk resous natirèl  (tankou dlo, rivyè n ap jwenn nan diferan kote nan peyi a). Nou gen sous dlo, sodo pa egzanp, diferan andwa Ayiti.   We cannot talk about agriculture and leave irrigation behind whereas when looking at Haiti, we see a country full of natural resources  (like water, rivers located in different parts of the country). We have springs, and waterfalls for instance in different places in Haiti.
Pou kèk nan sodo yo, nou kapab mansyone uit (8) gran sodo n ap jwenn nan diferan andwa. Pami yo: Basen Ble, Basen Waka, Basen Zim, Kaskad Pichon, So Matiren, Sodo (nan zòn Plato Santral), e gran So Goudèt ki nan komin Lazil (L’Asile) nan sid.   For some of the waterfalls, we can mention eight great ones that we will find in different places in Haiti. Among them: Basen Ble, Basen Waka, Basen Zim, Kaskad Pichon, So Matiren, Sodo (in the Central Plateau), and the Great So Goudèt Waterfall of Lazil (L’Asile) in the south.
Lè w ap gade imaj tout dlo sa yo, oubyen si w gen chans vizite kèk nan yo, ebyen yo pa fè anyen avèk yo paske pifò lidè o pouvwa pa enterese nan devlopman Ayiti. Gouvènman ak enstitisyon leta mouri; yo pa fonksonèl. Pa gen anyen ki fèt an tèm devlopman. When looking at the images of all these waters, or if you have the chance to visit some of them, well they don’t do anything with them because most leaders in power are not interested Haiti’s development. Government and government-run institutions are dead; they are non-functional. Nothing is being done in terms of development. Finally, all these waters end up in the sea.
This gives you an idea of the natural resources being wasted in Haiti. They would make that country rich in terms of agricultural production, and nobody would talk daily about “lavichè” or the high cost of things.
Malerezman, pa gen oken pwojè irigasyon avan e aprè «Barrage Marion». Pa gen oken seyans fòmasyon k ap fèt pou ta montre moun kòman yo kapab fè yon seri ti pwojè irigasyon ki pa t ap koute milyonven, e kòman yo kapab itilize dlo nan zòn kote y ap viv Ayiti.   Unfortunately, there are no irrigation projects before and afterBarrage Marion”. There are no training sessions being conducted to teach people how to do some low-cost irrigation projects, and how water can be used in the area where they are living in Haiti.
Premye edisyon an soti an 1994. Dezyèm edisyon an (224 p.), ki pi bèl toujou avèk narasyon, soti an 2014.   We talk about all these problems in the novel, Sezon sechrès Ayiti. The first edition came out in 1994. The second edition, ever more beautiful with narration, came out in 2014.
We put it free online trying to do consciousness-raising among all Haitians, to help all schools, students and teachers in Haiti, and all those who are doing research... Thus, they will have an idea of the peasants’ problems, water problems and why most of them are leaving Haiti because of these problems they have been facing.
N ap fè tout yon sòt de seyans fòmasyon seyans fòmasyon sou fason pou konsève dlo lapli, pa egzanp. Majorite moun Ayiti gen kay (an) tòl kounyeya men kesyon an se: Lè gen lapli kòman nou konsève l?   We are doing an entire training session on how to save rainwater, for example. Most people in Haiti now have tin-roofed houses but the question is: When there is rain, how do they preserve it?
Yon fwa ou gen yon kay an tòl pa egzanp, ou kapab fouye yon rezèvwa souteren oubyen pisin, basen nan lakou w, espesyalman si w rete an pwovens. Ou kapab simante l (lè sa posib). Dlo ki soti nan goutyè kay la oubyen lòt kote pral tonbe dirèkteman ladan. Apati de la, w ap kapab wouze jaden w, oubyen lòt jaden ki tou pre. Ou kapab itilize konduit banbou pou kondi dlo a pou ale lwen.   Once you have a tin-roofed house, you can dig an underground reservoir or pool in your yard, especially if you live in the countryside. You can cement it (when possible). Water from the house's gutters or elsewhere will fall directly into it. From there, you will be able to water your garden or other fields nearby. Bamboo can be used to channel the water far away.
Anpil nan nou Ayiti pa gen aksè a kawotchou pou wouze. Se achte pou n achte l, men banbou p ap koute nou chè pou itilize l. Banbou gen plizyè ne tankou kann. Depi w pèse ne sa yo ak yon bagay pwenti, y ap pèmèt pasaj dlo a.   Many of us in Haiti don’t have access to water hoses. We have to buy them, but bamboo won't cost us much to use it. Bamboo has several knots like sugar cane. Once these knots are pierced with something acute, they will allow the passage of water.
You can even do business with the water you channel. You make deals with neighbors who have land near the reservoir you’ve created and discuss with them how they are going to pay you. They may give you  a part of the crop during harvest.
Kesyon yo se: (a) Kòman nou mete tout resous natirèl Ayiti an aplikasyon? Men, annatandan, kisa nou kapab fè akoutèm, si n òganize nou?   The questions are: (a) How do we make use of all Haiti's natural resources? (b) How do we use them? (c) Are we waiting for life state-run institutions and those in power to come and do everything for us? Yes, we know that there are some major projects that the government should be engaged in doing because they have access to money for that. But in the meantime, what can we do short-term if we are organized?
Ki teknik nou kapab itilize pou kapte dlo ki prè lakay nou (tankou sous, rivyè e dlo lapli)? Lapli tonbe tout kote, kèlkeswa kote kay nou ta sitiye; nou kapab kapte l fasilman.
What techniques can we use to catch water (such as springs, rivers, and rainwater near our home)? It rains everywhere, wherever our house is located; we can easily catch it.
Nou kapab kreye yon pisin souteren, kèlkeswa jan nou kapab fè li pou dlo a pa evapore, epi nou simante l. Donk, konsa nou kapab konsève dlo a pou bèt bwè, pou wouze jaden ak plant. Nou kapab plen awozwa pou wouze plant nan lakou nou. Pafwa yo pa bezwen anpil dlo chak jou.   We can create an underground pool underground pool, no matter how we can do it so that the water does not evaporate, and then we cement it. So, we can conserve the water for animals to drink, to water gardens, and plants. We can fill up our sprinkling cans to water plants in our yard. Sometimes they don't need much water every day.

Rezèvwa an plastik : Plastic reservoir

Nan foto «D», n ap gade kèk tip rezèvwa pou konsève dlo, dlo lapli. Yo kapab achte yo kèk kote. Anpil moun ki gen kay (ki kouvri) an tòl oubyen ki an beton kapab kapte dlo lapli pou konsève l. Dlo lapli a pase nan yon goutyè, epi l ka ranpli plizyè rezèvwa. Lè youn fin plen, li ka plen lòt la (depan konbyen ki konekte youn ak lòt). Menm teknik sa a kapab itilize Ayiti pou konsève dlo lapli.

In picture «D», we are looking at some types of reservoirs to conserve water, rainwater. They can be bought in certain places. Many people who have a tin-roofed house or a concrete roof can catch rainwater to conserve it. The rainwater run through the gutters and then fill up many reservoirs. When one is filled, it fills up the other (depending on how many are connected with one another). This same technique can be used in Haiti to conserve rainwater.

[“In Sezon sechrès Ayiti, the author presents a Haiti the way it exists through the eyes of characters. Sezon sechrès Ayiti is a historical novel written in the Haitian language and one that is written in a simple language, presented in a historical, political and economic context: what happened in Haiti, what happened recently, and what continues to happen. The philosophy and psychology of the people are about the same: they all would like to see a beautiful Haiti, one where everyone can work together. They are victims of the drought, of the crimes going on in the country and or abuses done to them. They are leaving Haiti for same causes though they like the country but the situation forces them to leave. Despite of all the crimes and abuses committed to them, they don't ask for anything wrong to happen to the criminals, but they would like them give up all that is evil, they would like them to change so that there can be a real change in the country” • NOTE: 10 chapters -- A textbook prepared for high school level, for native speakers who want to master writing in standard Haitian Creole (H.C), and for learners of H.C (intermediate & advance level) with questions on each chapter, and a Creole – English glossary • Kèk tèm nan Sezon sechrès Ayiti pou disètasyon : Some themes in (the novel) Sezon sechrès Ayiti for essays] • Kesyon sou dis (10) chapit yo : Questions on the ten (10 chapters.
