Konsa, nou voye envitasyon bay tout anseyan ayisyen (aktif ou retrete), e tout moun k ap fè rechèch pou patisipe ladan. Se yon rechèch k ap plis baze aloral (vokal, entèvyou), sa pa vle di pou otan nou pa li, oubyen pa ta enterese nan lekti dokiman (kòm bibliyografi). Men nou plis enterese aloral, pou n tande dirèkteman moun ki gen eksperyans deja nan domèn lan, e kisa yo ta gen pou di.

 

Dear all, we’re launching a macro research project, to collect data on problem of schools in  Haiti, analysis further down, and prescribed solutions at the saame time from participants. That way, we send this invitation to all Haitian teachers (active or retired), and everyone who is doing research to participate in it. It’s a research that will concentrate more on oral (voice mail, and interviews), it doesn’t mean that we don’t read, or would not be interested in reading documents (as bibliography). But we are more interested in the oral, to hear directly people who already had experience in the area, and what they would have to say.

Gen anpil pwoblèm … pa egzanp, anpil anseyan ki pa resevwa yon fòmasyon obligatwa, kisa  ou gen pou ou di nan sa. Gen pwoblèm liv (edisyon ki merite fèt, biznis chanje liv tanzantan pou fè lajan...). Se pa tankou (nen lekòl piblik) Etazini kote lè lekòl ouvri an septanm pou elèv prete liv, epi remèt yo an jen lè lekòl fèmen.  Nou ta renmen wè sa Ayiti pou ede elèv. Chak nivo ta dwe ap sèvi ak menm liv, dokiman didaktik, pou evite gen dekalaj.

 

There are many problems … for instance, many teachers who did not receive a mandatory formation, what you have to say in this. There are problems with books (new editions needed, the business of changing books from time to time to make money...). It’s not like in the U.S (public) schools when school is open in September, they lend students books and they would return them in June when schools are close. We would like to see that in Haiti to help students. Each grade level should have used the same books, and teaching materials in order to avoid  shiftings.

Li ta dwe obligatwa pou anseyan ta dwe gen yon Lisans pedagojik nan matyè y ap anseye… Ou ka diskite sou tout pwoblèm sa yo, kòman ou fè evalyasyon klas ou pa egzanp, kèlkeswa sijè w ap anseye. E gen anseyan ki bay ti egzamen chak semèn, ki kapab yon ti egzamen ki gen 10 kesyon, sa yo rele quiz an anglè, oubyen interrogation an fransè... Kòman  lòt anseyan evalye klas yo? Ki pwoblèm ki egziste (kèlkeswa pwoblèm ou kapab idantifye).

 

Seminars to train teachers don’t occur in Haiti from time to time. Teachers should have had a mandatory Teaching license in their teaching area(s)… You can discuss all these problems, how you evaluate your class for example, whatever subject you teach. And there are teachers who give quizes each week, that can a ten questions quiz, what they call interrogation in French... How other teachers evaluate their? What are the problems that exist (whatever problem you can identify).

Epi tou, nou vle lanse tou yon apèl a moun k ap ekri, an tèm de kisa ou pibliye deja pou ede lekòl Ayiti (kit li an fransè, an kreyòl ou bileng an kreyòl – fransè, kreyòl –  anglè)... Kisa ou fè deja, pa egzanp an tèm piblikasyon, materyèl odyo, /odyovizyèl ou fè pou ede lekòl Ayiti? Panse a kesyon sa yo, si ou potko pote kontribisyon ou… Menm anseyan tou… èske se jis anseye ou anseye? Ki lòt travay ou fè pou ede solisyone nan pwoblèm lekòl Ayiti? Nou di sa ankò, nou enterese nan patisipasyon oral, nan entèvyou...

 

We are there to help in a way. We are not there only to criticize, to say this, that have not been done... We are looking at in all these problems what can be done, what you teacher did already... And also, we want call upon writers, in terms of what have you published already to help schools in Haiti (be it in French, Creole or bilingual in Creole – French, Creole –  English)... What have you done already, for example in publication of  audio materials /audiovisual ones to help schools in Haiti? Think about these questions, if you had not  contributed… Even teachers too … do you just teach, nothing else? What other work have you done to help solving from the problem of schools in Haiti? We say it again, we are interested in oral participation, and interviews...

N ap eseye gade tou domèn edikasyon an, kòman sa fèt nan peyi kouwè Lafrans, Kanada, Etazini (pou site kèk gran peyi, kote gen yon gwo dyaspora Ayisyen), e kisa Ayiti kab pran kòm modèl ladan yo, an tèm de sentèz pou l  ta fè yon bon jan refòm edikatif lakay li.

 

People who would like to particiapte can send us voice mail (VM) or plan to have interviews with us. We are not interested in (a bunch of) written documents; we read too much already. But what you, have to say? What you, have observed that are no good? What do you propose as solution(s)? This more what interests us; that way, we can analyse what the participant says in order to take a part of it that goes with the research. We are also trying to look at the area of education in countries like Frence, Canada, and the United States (to cite some developed countries with a great Haitian diaspora), and what Haiti can take as model in them, in term of synthesis to make a real educational reform at home.

It’strue there are many problems, but we can’t spend more than 213 years talking only, without coming with any solution, or solutions that we Haitians can propose. We count on all teachers, researchers, people who are concerned to participae in this research, where we’ll have an online version, a voicemail version, and an English version.

It’s a great opportunity to participate, not to say that you were not invited. The ball is at your corner, pass it to others, one tells another, that way we can find for participants taking part in a research that will help Haiti, the solutions we will offer, and what we can do together as Haitians to meet some challenges. It’s not only a government problem, but also we are looking at what can be done to help as citizens. When looking at a developed country, one of the indices to look at is:  the percentage of people who can read and write, who are educated in that country, who can take good decisions to go forward... That’s why edication is a priority for us, as concerned Haitian researchers… We count on your participation in the collective work for this research to be a successful one. Thank you in advance! E.
