Celebrating the Creole Month (October 2020), the ITIAHaiti organization is inviting two top Haitian scholars: Professors Emmanuel W. VEDRINE (researcher, educator, writer and linguist) and  Joseph Marcel GEORGES (researcher, educator and linguist). We expect this talk to take place on Sunday October 25, 2020 from 4:00 – 5:00 pm on ZOOM.

Click on zoom access to participate or to listen. The two contemporary researchers will be discussing about youth in Haiti, a concept that would define the existence of ITIAHaiti in the United States.

They will emphasize on education and formation, and present different characteristic of youth, and the way to orientate them. It’s a subject that aims ITIAHaiti’s objective to promote and commercialize the Creole language, and see its use as language of instruction at all school levels in Haiti.

The participants will be conscious of the educational, social, and economic reality they are living. The speakers will unveil the interest Haitian youths have if they learn to work together, and put selfishness aside so that they can succeed in changing the situation in which they have been living.

The researchers will present different aspects that make many youths fail, particularly concerning the lack of information and orientation (from Haiti) before landing in foreign countries (whatever the host country may be); their family, societal, linguistic and immigrant status (having legal documents or not)… the reality they are facing in the host country, and where they would stand in order to do a better transition tomorrow to better the conditions in which they are living.
