Language
What does everybody think about language?
I have loved hearing other languages since I was a kid
Because I was curious about other cultures,
With my experiences, I see the importance of this tool.
It is connected with sight
In order to communicate with my surroundings.
Why didn’t I speak all the languages on earth?
To communicate with the universe?
For me, all the languages are beautiful
Because each of us speaks our own.
It’s a tool that the same use
No matter where it’s made.

Haiti 's sky is in mourning
For many hundreds of her children's stars
Are going to dash away.
They're going to dash away,

Haiti 's sky has gone all dark
The eve of the death of a bunch of her children,
A bunch of innocents
who are going to take the road
of that country named Peyi Sanchapo
The Eve of September 30 th
The moon wasn't shining
Many stars began equilibrating themselves
Ready to dash away
Many human beings began noticing
A darkness that was about to envelop
A country.
The Eve of September 30 th ,
Grafters began laughing
All putschists began rejoicing
For all the crimes they were going to commit
Under Haiti 's sky:

Handguns began being loaded
Machetes began being sharpened.
September 30, this Eve
All the great Heroes became infuriated

When all Haitians will become conscious
When Haitians will realize who's making them acting stupid to divide them since colonial times,
When they'll realize who makes them divided in a way to always have control over them,
When they'll say to that monster: "fuck you!
even if you give me million of dollars I won't kill my brother for you",
When they'll realize that violating human right won't lead Haiti to anywhere,
That ambition for power makes Haiti goes backward for 200 hundred years,
That fighting for power won't lead Haiti to anywhere,
That many leaders who are talking can't even solve a small electricity problem,
That selfishness won't lead Haiti to anywhere,
That inviting foreigners to occupy them under develop Haiti,
That all Haitians should know how to read and write free of charge,
That they have to help one another,
That they have to learn how to invest,
That they must learn how to create,
That they must learn how to plant,
That they must learn how to produce not just consume,
That they must learn how to work to develop their communities,
That they must learn how to reforest their country,
That sitting down doing nothing is the trade of lazy people,
That each of them must do something positive to help Haiti moving forward,
When Haitians will realize how others are mocking them because they can't do nothing,
That coup d'états back and forth never help Haiti with anything,
That chopping one another's head and throw it in the ravines is barbaric,
That begging foreign countries all the time for money won't develop Haiti,
When they'll realize what the word democracy means,
what the word leadership is,
When they'll realize that we need hospitals clinics and health care programs everywhere in the country,
That we need a real agricultural programs to help develop Haiti,
That we need real roads to connect all points of the country,
That we need free schools everywhere we go in the country,
That we need technical schools for young Haitians to learn different trades,
That we need practical schools that won't under develop our people's brain,
That Haiti is over flooded with crimes making God mad,
That social prejudices make Haiti goes backward instead of going forward,
That becoming conscious is a drug all Haitians should take,
That it's not capitalist communist marxist nationalist socialist theorist who will save Haiti,
That it's not any political party that's going to liberate Haiti,
That the secret of Haiti's development lies in working together and in hard working,
That Haiti's solution is not in fighting one another to ascend to power,
That working together in peace respect for one another is the key to success,
That living in bluff fooling one another won't lead Haiti to anywhere,
That a bunch of pèpè political parties are NGO's lighting bugs shining for themselves,
When they will stop abusing exploiting crushing scorning stepping on sucking those who are under,
When leaders who are in power will start respecting laws and make people abide by them,
When all those who say they are leaders will have programs to enlighten the Haitian people who are in darkness,
When all leaders will teach the Haitian people how to conserve instead of how to destroy things they need,
When respect for human right will be valorized,
When all Haitians will stop rejecting their culture and everything that's home made so that they'll be proud of themselves,
When all of them will be conscious of the Haitian Reality,
they will become conscious that the country's solution lies only in their hands and they will decide in what direction they want to go
if they would like to see Haiti develop for sure.

The leader that Haiti needs
One who can create an atmosphere for security to reign throughout the country,
One who can have dialogue with the people from time to time,
One who can make the Haitian people proud of themselves,
One who can reach across party line,
One who cares about building roads, hospitals, clinics, schools across the country,
One who cares about education, literacy programs for everyone across the country,
One who cares about our peasants and who tries to solve their problems,
One who cares about our youth and who wants to create programs for them,
One who cares about the destruction of our environment,
One who does not abuse human rights in his advantage to control power,
One who does not believe in human sacrifice to keep power,
One who does not persecute people for their critics and beliefs,
One who does not see power as a way to get rich quickly,
One who does not see power as an opportunity to give jobs to friends,
One who does not use the Constitution as toilet tissue,
One who has a nice plan for Haiti’s development,
One who has in mind the basic projects of infrastructure for the country,
One who has moral values,
One who is not a dictator but a good leader,
One who is not a puppet who is there to serve the interest of some foreign powers but a good diplomat who can talk and listen to see what’s good for Haiti,
One who is open for real dialogue,
One who is proud of our women and who tries to do something to change their status,
One who knows how to manage power instead of abusing it,
One who knows the country’s history and culture and use that knowledge to benefit the people,
One who respects the law and makes people abide by it,
One who respects the right of every citizen,
One who sees the importance of real agricultural program in order to discourage illegal migrations of our peasants,
One who sees the importance of the Diaspora and who creates channels for Haiti to benefit greatly from that unexploited source,
One who thinks of staying in the country after his term is over to be there as a good advisor for future leaders,
One who understands the country’s needs in all sense and who is working to the maximum to meet them,
One who values education in all sense as a key element for Haiti’s

Litany of a market vendor
Oh my God, Sòna!
Such a good woman!
She always passes by the neighborhood at the same time
She doesn’t even know the hour.
Every day, as soon as the ten o’clock bell sounds bong bong,
You hear her song starts:
I have good
butter bean
navy bean
green bean
yellow bean
black bean
green peas
white rice
wild rice
ODVA rice
Saint-Marc corn
millet
salt poooork
Every kid in the block gets used to this music
It’s like a do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti, do.
She always repeats them in order:
One after another
Her feet pick up so much dust in the streets
Of Bapedchoz, Kafoufèy, and Soudal
They have a color you can’t explain
Her neck veins are as hard as a bullet
Since the load on her head is so heavy
It hurts looking at this poor woman
Walking up Nelyo’s hill rapidly
Like a car climbing in second gear.
Oh my God!
Is she still alive?
I wonder if she’s dead.
If you were to ask her if the load is heavy
She might get mad
Many vendors don’t want to hear people say that,
They don’t want to hear people say their load is heavy.
They say: “Don’t say that?
If there’s a zombie
Helping me,
You’d make it run away”

Mon bon oiseau, je sens
Que tu commences a respirer l'air
d'un printemps.
Oh! Toi qui a expérimenté des moments
lugubres;
Tu n'est pas loin de cette saison
Dont tu rêves constamment.
Oh! Mon oiseau préféré,
Bientôt tu vas être libéré
Toi qui voles sur cette terre
Pour apporter un morceau de rameau
A tes frères,
Ne t'en fais pas des bombes
Qui tombent
Ni de l'orage qui gronde
Enfermé dans cette cage par les chasseurs,

My good bird, I feel
That you have started breathing
a Spring air.
